Email settings for your phone or computer

Use these settings in iPhone Mail, Android, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or any other email app. Replace yourdomain.com with your own domain.

SettingValue
UsernameYour full email address, e.g. you@yourdomain.com
PasswordThe password for that email account
Incoming mail (IMAP)mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, SSL/TLS
Incoming mail (POP3)mail.yourdomain.com, port 995, SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP)mail.yourdomain.com, port 465, SSL/TLS (or port 587 with STARTTLS)
Outgoing authenticationRequired: use the same username and password as incoming mail

Tip: choose IMAP rather than POP3 if you read mail on more than one device. IMAP keeps your phone, computer and webmail in sync. In cPanel, Email Accounts › Connect Devices shows these settings for each mailbox and can set up an iPhone or Mac automatically.

Pointing your domain to Host Jersey

You can keep your domain registered wherever it is now (GoDaddy, NameSilo, Network Solutions, Cloudflare and so on). There are two ways to point it at us:

Option 1: Use our nameservers (easiest)

At your domain registrar, change the nameservers to:

Nameserver 1ns1.hostjersey.com
Nameserver 2ns2.hostjersey.com

We then manage all of your DNS records for you, including website, email and SSL.

Option 2: Keep your own DNS (for Cloudflare and similar)

If you’d rather keep your DNS where it is, add or update these records:

TypeNameValue
A@ (your domain)23.235.194.112
Awww23.235.194.112
Amail23.235.194.112
MX@mail.yourdomain.com (priority 0)

Ask us for your domain’s SPF and DKIM records too, so your email is trusted by other mail servers.

DNS changes usually take effect within an hour or two, but can take up to 48 hours to reach everyone. Your site and email keep working at the old host until the change is complete.

Managing your email

All of these are in cPanel under the Email section:

  • Create a new address: Email Accounts › + Create.
  • Change a password: Email Accounts › Manage next to the address.
  • Forward mail to another address: Forwarders › Add Forwarder.
  • Set an out-of-office reply: Autoresponders › Add Autoresponder.
  • Adjust spam filtering: Spam Filters. Lower the score to catch more spam, or raise it if real mail is being filtered.

Forgot your cPanel password? Contact us and we’ll reset it.

WordPress

  • Log in: go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin.
  • Forgot your password? Click Lost your password? on the login page, or call us.
  • Updates: in cPanel, open WP Toolkit to see and apply updates for WordPress, plugins and themes in one place.
  • Install a new site: cPanel › WP Toolkit › Install.

Before big changes like a new theme or a major plugin update, ask us to take a fresh backup first. It’s free and only takes a minute.

SSL certificates

Every domain gets a free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate automatically, and it renews itself before it expires. When you move a site to us, the certificate is issued within a few hours of your domain pointing to our servers. If you see a security warning on your site after that, give us a call.

Backups and restores

We back up every account daily (kept 7 days) and weekly (kept 4 weeks), including files, databases and email.

  • Need something restored? Call 609-522-6222 or send us a message. Tell us what to restore and roughly when it was last right.
  • Want your own copy? In cPanel, open Backup and choose Download a Full Account Backup.

Ready for hosting that picks up the phone?

Tell us about your site and we'll take it from there, including moving your website and email.
